Enabling Blackboard Courses

Empty course sites are automatically created each semester for Rutgers-Newark credit-bearing courses. Instructors must request access to a course(s) by completing the online form at: http://blackboardinfo.newark.rutgers.edu/Forms/BbICourse.html. If you need access to more than three sections, please submit more than one form. Requests will not be processed without complete course information. Rutgers Business School Faculty may request access to their Blackboard courses by completing the online RBS Course Access Form.

Alternatively, an email request may be submitted from the instructor to the Blackboard Faculty Support Coordinator at blackboard@newark.rutgers.edu. Please include the following information: your name, NetID, full course information (School Code, Subject Code, Course Number, Section Number,  Index Number, and Course Name).

Please Note: Verification of assignment may be required from your department chair.  If verification is needed, the Blackboard Faculty Support Coordinator will contact you by email.

TAs and GAs

If access needs to be granted to a TA or GA, the request must come from the instructor of record. An email may be sent from the instructor to the Blackboard Faculty Support Coordinator (blackboard@newark.rutgers.edu) or the Blackboard TA/GA Permission Form (http://blackboardinfo.newark.rutgers.edu/Forms/BbTAGACourse.doc) can be printed and faxed to 973-353-1587.

Students

Blackboard is updated daily with enrollment information from the Registrar. Please note that students must be officially registered without any financial holds and have a NetID.  If students do not meet both of these requirements, they will not appear on your roster within Blackboard. Once these requirements have been fulfilled, they will be updated into Blackboard within 48 hours.

By default, all courses are "unavailable" to students to allow you time to post materials and set-up your course. To make your course "available" to students, go into your course's Control Panel, click on Settings and then Course Availability, select Yes and click Submit.
